How fast is the 2020 Nissan GT-R?

2020 Nissan GT-R: Top Speed, Acceleration, Horsepower, and More

Introduced back in 2010, the GT-R was labelled as a supercar killer. And for good reason. It had a crazy amount of horsepower at the time compared to anything else and boasted sub-4 second 0-60 times. Nowadays, those numbers aren’t as special. So, is it able to keep up with modern day supercars?

0-60 and Top Speed

The top-tier 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo (nicknamed Godzilla by enthusiasts) does 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds and tops out at 205 mph. That beats the times of other popular supercars like the 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo S (2.8 sec; 205 mph) or the Jaguar F-Type SVR (3.5 sec; 200 mph). The base model 2020 GT-R Premium is almost as impressive as its Nismo sibling, with a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 196 mph.

Insane Horsepower and Unmatched AWD

2020 Nissan GT-R driving

Every 2020 GT-R has a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 in it, though the performance specs vary by trim. For the Track Edition and Nismo trims, the engine puts out 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. The Premium and 50th Anniversary Edition models get 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of trim, the engine is paired with a six-speed automated manual. The transmission does lots of work, with barely noticeable and hyper responsive shifts. The torque vectoring AWD system that comes standard on every 2020 GT-R has been praised as one of the best on the planet. Period. It keeps the 2020 GT-R glued to the pavement no matter how fast you’re going.
